Configuring your Sony© Playstation™ 2 for On-Line Gaming

 

After installing the Sony Playstation 2 Network Adapter, turn on the console with the supplied Network Adapter Start-Up disk.

After a short video clip, you will be presented with three options:



When you are ready, select "ISP Setup".


1.  Press the 'X' key on your Playstation 2 game pad to continue.

2.  Be sure to have a memory card inserted with the necessary space available.  Press 'X' to continue.

3.  Press 'X' to register now and follow the guide, or simply select the 'Square' button to continue and register at a later time.

4.  The setup process will now begin, press 'X' to continue.

5.  After your Network Adapter has been detected, press the 'X' button to continue.

6.  After reading this warning from SCEA, press 'X' to continue.

7.  Type a name for the connection.  "Internet Nebraska" or "Inebraska" is fine.  Press the on-screen 'Enter' key to continue.

8.  Select "Yes" for subscribing to an ISP.  Press 'X' to continue.

From here you will need to select the appropriate connection for your type of Internet connectivity: Dial-up or Broadband.

Dial-up | Broadband:  IN Cable | Broadband:  DSL PPPoA | Broadband: DSL PPPoE


Dial-up

1.  Select "Dial-up Connection (Modem)", then press the 'X' button.

2.  Be sure to have your user name, password, and dial-up number handy.  Press 'X' to continue.

3.  After reading this warning about possible long-distance charges, press the 'X' button to continue.

4.  Select "Other" and press 'X' to continue.

5.  Enter the dial-up number for the town or city you are calling from.  Add a secondary number if you wish.  Press the on-screen 'Enter' key to continue.

6.  Select "No" if you do not have to dial any special options. Press 'X' to continue.

7.  Enter your username (with no "@inebraska.com") and your password twice.  Press the on-screen 'Enter' key to continue.

8.  Your Playstation 2 will now test the connection...

9.  Once it successfully dials up you will be presented with a screen informing you of this.  Press the 'X' button to save the settings.

10.  Once the Playstation 2 saves the settings, you will be taken back to the main menu.


Broadband

IN Cable

1.  Select "High Speed Connection (Cable or DSL)" and press 'X' to continue.

2.  Select "Automatic Settings" and press 'X' to continue.

3.  Select "No" and press 'X' to continue.  Also select "No" on needing a "DHCP Host Name".  Press 'X' to continue.

4.  The Playstation 2 will now test the connection.

5.  After the successful test, press the 'X' button to save your configuration.

6.  After the save you will be taken back to the main menu.


Broadband

DSL (PPPoA)

If you have a DSL router (such as a Cisco 675/678 or a SpeedStream 5660), please follow the same steps for the IN Cable configuration for the "Automatic Configuration"

If you have static IP addresses, please follow these steps below.

1.  Select "Manual Settings" and press 'X' to continue.

2.  You will need to know an available IP address to use, your netmask, and router IP address.  What is listed above is just an example.  If you do no recall these, please feel free to give our help desk a call and we can assist you.
Once you enter an IP, netmask, and router IP address, proceed to enter these DNS numbers:

Primary DNS Address: 199.184.119.001
Secondary DNS Address: 199.002.252.010

3.  Your Playstation 2 will now test the connection.

4.  After the successful test, press the 'X' button to save your configuration.

5.  After the save, press the 'X' button to be taken back to the main menu.

 


Broadband

DSL (PPPoE)

If you have a DSL modem that requires a username and password (such as a SpeedStream 5200), please follow these steps below.

1.  Select "Automatic Settings" and press 'X' to continue.

2.  Select "Yes" for requiring a username and password.  Press 'X' to continue.

3.  If you do not recall your username and password give our help desk a call.  Press 'X' to continue.

4.  Enter a capitol "D" and then your username.  Then enter your password twice.  Press the on-screen 'Enter' to continue.

5.  Please wait while your Playstation 2 tests the connection.

6.  After the successful test, press the 'X' button to save your configuration.

7.  After it saves your configuration, press the 'X' button to return the main menu.
