Windows 2000 Setup Instructions


1. Begin by clicking on Start --> Settings --> Network and Dial-up Connections --> Make New Connection. Click "Next."

2. Select "Dial-up to private network" and click "Next."

3. Select your modem from the list provided, click "Next."

4. Type the phone number that you will be dialing, click "Next."

5. Choose the security level for the connection (i.e. "For all users" or "Only for myself."), click "Next."

6. Check "Enable Internet Connection Sharing" if you are familiar with this feature and desire it, click "Next."

7. Type a name for the entry, usually "Internet Nebraska."

8. If you would like to place a shortcut on your desktop (recommended), check the box in the lower left corner.

9. Click "Finish." Click "Properties." Select the "Networking" tab.

10. Select "TCP/IP" and click "Properties."

11. Select the option to "Use the following DNS server addresses" and enter the following:

12. Preferred DNS server: 199.184.119.1 Alternate DNS server: 199.2.252.10

13. Click "OK" and "OK" again. Enter your username and password and click "Dial" to connect!



Configuring Outlook Express


1. Select Start --> Programs --> Outlook Express

2. You may now be asked if you want to set up your e-mail and news services. Choose "Yes", Click Next. Select the option "Create a new Internet mail account," Click "Next."

3. If you were not prompted with the previous message, click "Tools" --> "Accounts," select the "Mail" tab and click "Add" --> "Mail."

4. You will now be asked for your "Display Name." This is your real name, e.g., John Smith. Enter it and click "Next."

5. Enter your e-mail address (e.g., joe@inebraska.com), and click "Next."

6. For "My incoming mail server is...," choose "POP3"; in the "Incoming Mail Server" blank, enter pop.inebraska.com; and in the "Outgoing Mail Server" blank, also enter smtp.inebraska.com. Click "Next."

7. Enter your account name and password in the blanks. Choose "Next." Click "Finish."
